BBA Response to State Plan
In November, 2006, the NSW Government released a state plan outlining the key priority areas for the Government. Issues related to community safety, criminal justice and law and order are key components of this plan.

The Beyond Bars Alliance has formulated a response to these areas covered in the plan.

Stop the Nowra Prison
The recent government proposal to develop a new Correctional Centre on the South Coast of NSW is essentially a promise to breed more crime. The Shoalhaven community has been enticed to accept the development of the prison on the basis that it will result in an injection into the local economy. The $130 million fund could be redirected towards important community needs such as education, health, transport, and rehabilitation facilities.

Human Rights Campaign
